The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, Finansinspektionen, was established in 1991 with the aim to create a single integrated regulator covering banking, securities and insurance.
It is a public authority, and it's role is to promote stability and efficiency in the financial system as well to ensure an effective consumer protection. Finansinspektionen authorizes, supervises and monitors all companies operating in Swedish financial markets. It is accountable to the Ministry of Finance.
