Proceeds of Crime Act, 1996

The Proceeds of Crime Act (Act No. 76 of 1996) of South Africa was adopted on 20 November 1996 and commenced on 16 May 1997.

The Act provides for the restraint and confiscation of the proceeds of crime, and established a number of money laundering offences.

This Act was repealed by the Prevention of Organised Crime Act, 1998 (Act No. 121 of 1998), with effect from 21 January 1999.
