Liechtenstein's law on international mutual legal assistance in criminal matters of 15 September 2000 regulates all procedures of international collaboration on criminal matters (in so far as additional agreements made between states do not decree otherwise), including in particular:

  • the extradition of criminally prosecuted or sentenced people;
  • legal assistance in support of criminal proceedings abroad;
  • assumption of criminal proceedings and surveillance;
  • enforcing foreign criminal rulings; and
  • the attainment of extradition, transit and the discovery and production of documents, of legal assistance and of the assumption of criminal proceedings, of surveillance and of enforcement.

The regulations for the implementation of this law are detailed in the provision of 11 April 1995 arising from the law on international mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

This is an unofficial translation of excerpts from the German version; the full and original version of Liechtenstein's Mutual Legal Assistnace Law is available only in German.
