The legal assistance treaty between Switzerland and Australia concerning criminal matters, SR 0.351.915.8, was concluded on 25 November 1991 and approved by the federal assembly on 2 March 1993. It entered into force by the exchange of notes on 31 July 1994.
The contracting parties pledge, in accordance with the terms of the treaty, to provide each other with legal assistance in preliminary or court proceedings brought on account of criminal acts, for the penalisation of which the judicial authorities of the requestig state are or would be responsible.
