Department of Justice and Mutual Legal Assistance Unit

The Department of Justice (International Law Division, Mutual Legal Assistance Unit) is the Central MLA Authority in Hong Kong, China.

It manages the entire process of cooperation in criminal matters: receives and processes requests for mutual assistance, assists foreign authorities in drafting requests in specific cases, and maintains communication with foreign authorities in order to enhance cooperation. To perform these functions, the MLA Unit has 10 lawyers with substantive experience in international cooperation in criminal matters, including corruption cases.
