View & download:

This report, issued by Transparency International, assesses the progress made to date by G8 governments on five important commitments on corruption and finds that, in too many cases, rhetoric exceeds reality. The G8 Progress Report is a 'call to action' for the G8 to do more to fulfil its promises and to report back on progress at the 2008 Summit.

With relation to asset recovery, the report

  • discusses the G8's commitment to asset recovery regarding the implementation of UNCAC;
  • discusses the G8's commitment to establish effective asset recovery mechanisms;
  • calls upon the G8 to strengthen mutual legal assistance;
  • calls upon the G8 to ensure that financial centres assist in asset repatriation;
  • calls upon the G8 to cooperate on asset tracing and recovery.
