Based on the Law No. 30 of 2002, the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was established on 29 December 2003. The commission's main tasks include:
- to coordinate the country's fight against corruption, including the actions of the National Police, the Attorney General and other involved actors;
- to supervise the involved actors, as for instance the National Police and the Attorney General in their efforts to fight corruption;
- to investigate and prosecute cases of corruption;
- to undertake prevention programs; and
- to review procedures and institutions prone to corruption and to recommend respective remedies.
