The Brazilian Central Bank (Portuguese: Banco Central do Brasil - BCB) was created by the Law n° 4.595 of 31 December 1964.
The BCB is Brazil's highest monetary authority in finance and economics. It is linked to the Ministry of Finance.
The governmental Bank is assigned to the following tasks: to control foreign trade operations, and to execute foreign exchange operations on behalf of public sector enterprises and the National Treasury.
