MACAO, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) received 417 complaints in the first half of 2009, a year-on-year increase of 3.7 percent, according to a report released on Thursday by the CCAC.
Among the total complaints received in the period, only 29 cases commenced for investigation, and the Commission referred 11 cases to the Public Prosecutions Office, the figures indicated.
Meanwhile, 80.6 percent of the complaints received concerned criminal cases, while the rest were common complaints.
In the first half of 2009, local courts adjudicated seven cases, two of which involved the disgraced former SAR Secretary for Transport and Public Works Ao Man Long who was convicted of corruption-related crimes.
