Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA)

preview

The Namiba Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) was established by an Act of Parliament, NAMFISA Act No. 3 of 2001.

NAMFISA is a public body under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance and is tasked with the responsibility of regulating and supervising the non-banking financial industry of Namibia. It is a non-profit, autonomous entity which is fully funded by the industry it regulates via levies imposed on those companies.

The Government of Namibia commercialised this non-core function of the Ministry of Finance as a firm commitment to further improve the financial soundness of the Namibian non-banking financial industry and to secure protection for all stakeholders in the industry, including consumers.
