Handbag Mogul Bourke Found Guilty in Bribe Case

A federal jury convicted Connecticut investor Frederic Bourke Jr. on Friday of engaging in a scheme to bribe Azerbaijan government officials, marking a big victory for the Justice Department as it ratchets up its pursuit of overseas corruption.

Mr. Bourke, co-founder of the Dooney & Bourke handbag company, was found guilty in U.S. District Court in Manhattan of conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the travel act and making false statements to federal law-enforcement officials.
