This short video was taken during a workshop on "Implementing the Asset Recovery Provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption", hosted by the International Centre for Asset Recovery of the Basel Institute on Governance, in cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on 15-16 May 2007 in Basel, Switzerland. It was attended by 25 specialists in the area of asset recovery from around the world, and 30 observers.

At the plenary session "Case Study 2: The Innovative Case - Vladimiro Montesinos", Willie Hofmeyr, Jean-Bernard Schmid and Daniel Claman discuss a different approach in common and civil law systems to the issue of subjecting the property and value of a corrupt official which are not directly traceable to offence, i.e. are not of illicit origin, to an order of confiscation.

This video lasts 5 min.
