The Attorney-General's Department is responsible for Australia's federal law and justice system and for emergency management. Within the Department, the Assistant Secretary and Extradition Branch – International Crime Cooperation Division deals with MLA and extradition requests – both incoming and outgoing. It is Australia's central authority. Another team within the Attorney-General's Department works with Pacific island countries to improve their anti-money laundering capacities.
